World’s largest superyacht Somnio which sails wherever you like, will set sail in 2024

Luxury at sea will reach a new level when the world’s largest private yacht launches from a shipyard in Norway in 2024.

The Somnio will have just 39 apartments spread over six decks, where invitation-only residents — each paying a minimum of US$11.3 million for the privilege — will collectively decide the sailing itinerary for the year.

And, if everyone agrees, that could be anywhere from Alaska to the Antarctic and almost every destination in between.

“Owners will share a truly unique lifestyle at sea, with a hand-picked crew and a never-ending global itinerary of carefully selected destinations and experiences befitting a yacht of this nature,” said Captain Erik Bredhe, the former captain of M/V The World, the only ‘houseboat’ currently at sea.

Captain Bredhe will lead ship management and operations.

What makes this residential ship so exclusive? For starters, each apartment will have a kitchen, gym, library, and dining spaces both inside and outside on the terrace.

As well as a 10,000-bottle capacity wine cellar and a beach club.

The US$600 million project is being led by Carl Le Souef, a US millionaire who founded a global skincare firm and is now a co-owner of sustainable tech group, Somnio Global.

Swedish design company Tillberg Design and London-based Winch Design worked together on the architecture behind the superyacht, which is being built in Norway by Vard, part of Italian shipbuilding company, Fincantieri.

Revenues from off-plan sales will help to finance the rest of the construction, according to a media statement.
