Macao’s hotel sector is set to expand significantly, with over 4,000 new rooms in development. According to the Land and Urban Construction Bureau, as of the end of 2024, four hotel projects were under construction, while 10 more were awaiting government approval. Together, these projects will add 4,229 rooms to the city’s hospitality market.
Most of the new supply under construction is concentrated in Cotai, where one hotel alone will provide 2,724 rooms. Additionally, 204 rooms are being developed on the Macao peninsula. The hotels pending approval include nine on the Macao peninsula and one in Taipa, contributing a total of 1,301 rooms.
Part of the expansion includes the ongoing development at Galaxy Macau, with a new ultra-luxury hotel, Capella at Galaxy Macau, scheduled to open in late Q2 2025 with 93 rooms. Galaxy Entertainment Group is also developing Phase 4 of the complex, which will feature multiple hotel brands.
Separately, the Londoner Grand and Paiza Grand, the newest accommodation offerings at The Londoner Macao resort by Sands China Ltd, will be available for public bookings from 5 February. The Londoner Grand replaces the former Sheraton Macao and will offer both suites and regular guest rooms, with the latter available for stays from 1 March.
Paiza Grand, an exclusive suite-only property atop the Londoner Grand hotel tower, will also open for public bookings from 5 February. Londoner Grand will feature 2,405 rooms, including 1,500 suites, opening in phases from September 2024 through Q2 2025.
Las Vegas Sands Corp, the parent company of Sands China, previously stated that 300 Londoner Grand suites had already opened in late September. The resort has also launched Apex, a new high-limit baccarat club, on the ground floor of The Londoner Macao.
