Shangri-La Group has launched JEN Hangzhou by Shangri-La, introducing its lifestyle brand to Hangzhou with a 176-room hotel combining local culture, urban design and community experiences.
Shangri-La Group has announced the soft opening of JEN Hangzhou by Shangri-La, marking the debut of its JEN by Shangri-La brand in Hangzhou and the 10th JEN property worldwide.
Located in Gongshu District, the hotel introduces the brand’s “Live New Asia” concept to one of East China’s key destinations, combining Hangzhou’s cultural heritage with contemporary lifestyle experiences.
JEN Hangzhou is situated in Hangzhou Kerry Plaza, on the site of the historic Hangzhou Oxygen Plant. The hotel’s design preserves elements of the site’s industrial character through exposed brick walls and industrial-inspired details, while floor-to-ceiling glass creates a modern urban setting.
Artworks throughout the property draw inspiration from Hangzhou’s urban culture and the legacy of the Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The design reflects the city’s connection with waterways through a contemporary interpretation.
Surrounded by cultural attractions, including the Grand Canal and Qiaoxi Historic District, the hotel provides access to key leisure and business areas in Hangzhou. Its location also supports convenient connections to major transport hubs.
Lifestyle experiences across four areas
JEN Hangzhou features 176 guestrooms and suites designed around modern comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of the city skyline or surrounding greenery, while Deluxe Rooms and higher categories include double bathtubs.
All suites offer private outdoor terraces, creating additional spaces for guests to enjoy views of the city and natural surroundings.
The hotel’s dining concept, OpenHouse, focuses on Hangzhou’s culinary traditions and regional ingredients. The menu combines contemporary interpretations of Jiangnan cuisine with Western favourites and Southeast Asian specialities.
OpenHouse is designed for a variety of occasions, including everyday dining, business meetings, family gatherings, and social events. In addition, the venue offers a Grab & Go breakfast option with light meals, coffee and beverages for business travellers and guests with busy schedules.
Wellness facilities are available through JEN Active, which includes a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor heated swimming pool located beneath a glass atrium, and a sauna area.
The hotel also features a recovery-focused spa that combines Asian wellness traditions with modern recovery treatments, offering personalised experiences focused on relaxation and restoration.
Event spaces for business and social gatherings
JEN Hangzhou provides more than 330 square metres of event space. The facilities include a 240-square-metre ballroom and a 90-square-metre flexible venue equipped with advanced audiovisual technology.
An outdoor lawn on the seventh floor expands the hotel’s event capabilities, supporting corporate meetings, private celebrations, weddings and garden events.
With its combination of cultural references, lifestyle facilities and community-focused spaces, JEN Hangzhou introduces Shangri-La Group’s lifestyle brand to one of China’s most dynamic urban destinations.
