Orient Express, the storied name synonymous with grand rail journeys, is moving beyond the tracks with the introduction of its first sailing yacht, set to become the world’s largest when it launches in June 2026.
Built over four years at France’s Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard, the 220-metre Orient Express Corinthian features three towering sails and a silhouette inspired by classic ocean liners.
The Orient Express Corinthian will house 54 suites, each offering panoramic sea views. Suite sizes range from 43 sqm to 225 sqm.
At the heart of the vessel is The Guerlain Spa. The 500-sqm facility features four treatment suites, including a VIP double suite for couples, alongside a sauna, relaxation lounge, barber studio, beauty salon, fitness space, and lap lane with open-sky views.
French architect and Orient Express artistic director Maxime d’Angeac led the yacht’s interior design, creating spaces that reference the brand’s heritage of craftsmanship. The vessel features hand-finished materials, curated artworks, sculptural furnishings, and vintage-inspired lighting, intended to evoke what the brand calls a “floating palace”.
Sustainability was a key principle in the yacht’s conception. Its design incorporates wind-assisted propulsion, onboard energy optimisation systems, and materials and engineering choices aimed at reducing environmental impact.
Amenities include a 1,500-volume library, a cinema modelled on early 20th-century movie houses, and a musical salon for concerts and cultural programming. On deck, guests will have access to open-air lounges and observation areas.
Culinary programming will be led by multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, who will introduce a French-led gastronomic offering designed to complement the yacht’s wellness-focused philosophy.
The Orient Express Corinthian will begin its inaugural season in the Mediterranean in June 2026 followed by its Caribbean season in October 2026.
The vessel is the first of two Orient Express Sailing Yachts, with the Orient Express Olympian’s maiden voyage scheduled for 2027. Tapping into the world of ocean racing, the two yachts will be propelled by sails designed with the SolidSail technology. Three rigid sails, each spanning 1,500sqm, are mounted with sprit sail rigging on three inclinable masts towering over 100m, allowing for up to 100% propulsion under suitable weather conditions.
