Hollywood celebrity Robert De Niro’s Nobu Hospitality has opened its first property in the Maldives, in the province of Laamu Atoll on the private island of Munyafushi.
Nobu Hotel, Residences, and Restaurant Maldives offers 26 one- and two-bedroom beach villas and 30 one- and two-bedroom overwater villas.
Sitting on its own private island are 10 Nobu Island estate residences, designed with pavilion-style living and dining areas for entertaining, private beachfronts with direct ocean access, and a private yacht for exploring surrounding waters of the Indian Ocean.
At the heart of the resort is a Nobu restaurant occupying its own private island, complete with a bar and lounge and serving the brand’s signature Japanese-Peruvian cuisine by Nobu Matsuhisa.
Additional amenities include a full-service spa, fitness facilities, a diving centre, swimming pool, event spaces, and a programme of curated island experiences.
Developed in partnership with Sarat International, the Maldives “is a highly sought-after tourist destination that has long been on our radar for a unique resort concept,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality.
“As part of the new generation of Maldives hotels, we aim to set a new standard of rarity. Our priority is to create a superior island experience rather than follow a formulaic approach – one where design, world-class dining, and the natural environment harmoniously coexist.”
