New-Concept POP! Hotel opens in Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta. Tauzia Hotel Management opened a third POP! Hotel in Yogyakarta on Thursday (24/11), with a new, eco-friendly concept known as POP! Blue.

The distinction is not only in the logo – with a blue “O” in the middle – but also in the hotel’s warm, welcoming lobby. The concept was first introduced at POP! Hotel Pasar Baru.

“Similar to our hotel in Pasar Baru, POP! Hotel Timoho Yogyakarta also offers an atmospheric lobby with a PitStop concept, combining cafe lounge vibes and a convenience store. This is our way of answering the market’s trend that keeps on changing,” Tauzia Hotel Management chief brands and marketing officer Irene Janti said.

Featuring 126 guestrooms, Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the premises, meeting rooms and other services, POP! highlights its pioneer role as an eco-friendly budget hotel.

The name “Timoho” comes from a local tree in the area, and POP! Hotel Timoho Yogyakarta boasts a strategic location close to the city hall and interesting cultural attractions around the hotel. It is also only about 20 minutes from the airport.

From the historic Vredeburg Fort and Museum, to the modest and noteworthy Buddha Prabha Temple, guests are invited to explore Yogyakarta and experience the city.

With an opening rate of Rp 298,000 ($22) per night, POP! Hotel Timoho Yogyakarta hopes to compete with local budget hotels and offer a different, eco-friendly experience.

This is evident from the brand’s annual campaign theme of “Serve to Conserve,” which has as its objective to raise public awareness of the need for a greener, healthier neighborhood.

“Many of the elements we use in POP! Hotel buildings are eco-friendly materials. Some hotels even use solar panels; we believe this gives us visibility and makes us unique in the market,” POP! Hotel director of operations Benjamin Castle said.

Tauzia Hotel Management president director Marc Steinmeyer echoed his sentiment during the hotel’s green opening ceremony.

“We try our best to build ‘green buildings’ in Indonesia. Sometimes it’s not perfect, but we always make our best effort to accomplish this,” Steinmeyer said.

The POP! Hotels network has 20 hotels in Indonesia, with 18 more scheduled to open by early 2021. It has won several awards in the budget hotel category, including the Travel Awards 2013 in Singapore and Best Budget Hotel – Asia Pacific at the annual TTG Travel Awards in 2015 and 2016.
