STR/CoStar reported China hotel data for the week ended June 6th. China hotel RevPAR was up 2.4% year-over-year, up against an easy comp of a decline of 15.7% in the year-ago week. The RevPAR rise was balanced with occupancy up 1.4% and ADR up 1%, both year-over-year, for the week ending June 6th.
CoStar preliminary data shows Adelaide hotels registered a 6.6% year-over-year increase in average daily rate to A$198.79 in May. RevPAR was up 5.7%. CoStar said performance peaked during the Australian Tourism Exchange on May 13th when occupancy reached 88.3%, ADR was A$243.62, and RevPAR hit A$215.09. Overall occupancy was down 0.9% to 72.7%. This was due to the market absorbing an increase in hotel supply of 1.6%. New supply is continuing to come online, so CoStar believes it will be some time before demand catches up.

A plan to complete the redevelopment of Waterfront Manila Hotel & Casino and stage a phased opening from this year has been placed on indefinite hold. Operator Acesite (Phils) Hotel Corporation is citing higher costs and a depressed Philippines gaming market due to the Middle East conflict, growth in online gaming, and fewer visitor arrivals from China for the decision. Acesite had previously planned a phased reopening taking place from 1Q26 with a full opening scheduled for early 2027. The property, previously the Manila Pavilion Hotel, burned down in a fire in March 2018. The hotel redevelopment costs were previously expected to mostly be funded by Php1.5 billion in insurance funds, but Acesite said costs jumped to an estimated Php3.6 billion. Spiraling fuel costs had pushed the budget way beyond the scope of the insurance collected. Acesite also said weak tourism arrivals to the Philippines are expected to continue into 2027. Management has elected to adopt a cautious stance towards the commitment of sizeable investments needed for rebuilding the hotel until tourism arrivals stabilize. For now, construction is not expected to resume until at least 2028.
