Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, officially opened on 12 October, celebrating the occasion with a gala attended by over 130 distinguished guests, VIPs, and dignitaries. The highlight of the evening was a captivating performance by Beijing-born pianist Yuja Wang, who joins the hotel’s celebrity Fan Campaign.
Notable attendees included fellow celebrity fans Chen Kun, Karen Mok, and Vivienne Tam, along with artist Xu Bing, the creator of the hotel’s signature fan. The event took place in the hotel’s beautifully designed courtyard and communal areas, showcasing innovative dining options alongside refined wines and cocktails.
Michelin-starred consultant Chef Fei collaborated with Executive Chef Ping to serve elegant canapés that highlighted local Beijing flavours and seasonal ingredients. Guests enjoyed a variety of beverages, including fine champagnes and contemporary cocktails from the hotel’s TIAO Bar.
Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, led a champagne toast, stating, “Today’s gala event marks a significant milestone in Beijing’s contemporary cultural and artistic trajectory. We are honoured and thrilled to officially open the doors of this unique and exquisite property which reflects Mandarin Oriental’s desire to be masters of craft and shapers of culture in every destination in which we operate.”
Kleitman added, “We are delighted that Yuja Wang has performed for us this evening… For over 20 years, we have been supported by more than fifty celebrities who call themselves fans and regularly stay with us.” The group has donated over US$1 million to the charities of these celebrities, including a contribution to Wang’s chosen charity, The Curtis Institute of Music.
This opening marks Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s 10th hotel in Greater China and its 41st property worldwide.
