Maldives adds another adults-only island resort

Nala Maldives by Jawakara Islands is a 35-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport.

Nala Maldives by Jawakara Islands has joined the list of adults-only resorts in Maldives, located via a 35-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport.

The 10-hectare island in Lhaviyani Atoll features a dual-island concept, so guests aged 12 years old and above can engage in activities and dine, before returning to the other private atoll, three minutes away by speedboat.

The 80 one-bedroom villas offer a choice between 20 sunrise beach villas, eight romantic beach villas, 22 sunset beach pool villas, and 30 ocean pool villas, all featuring tropical décor, private porches, and in select categories, solar-powered energy systems.

All villas come with private pools or direct lagoon access, where guests can snorkel to explore house reef. Facilities focusing on marine conservation are available at the Jawakara Atoll Research Centre and the Maldives’ first Sea Turtle Health Institute, with the latter being the world’s first accredited sea turtle veterinary nursing programme.

Apart from the live cooking stations at Velu, Mediterranean-inspired dining at Milos, Asian flavours at Kumo, as well as a variety of bars and snack stands, cross-island access means that guests can also head over to Jawakara’s additional à la carte restaurants and sports facilities, available at an extra fee.

The Sulha Spa offers treatments and skincare rituals, complemented by facilities including a Himalayan salt room, red-light therapy room, sauna, and cold bath.

Sports and recreation activities like catamaran sailing, snorkelling, wakeboarding, jet skiing to diving, as well tennis, padel and futsal are also available.
