Holiday Inn checks out, Kandooma Maldives checks in

Kandooma Maldives is a 40-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport.

HPL Hotels & Resorts will take over management of Holiday Inn Kandooma Resort Maldives on 1 October 2026 and rebrand it as Kandooma Maldives.

The 146-villa resort, on a private island in South Malé Atoll, will introduce an all-inclusive plan covering meals, selected drinks and snacks. Guests can also choose from complimentary activities including a sunset cruise, sunrise fishing, a 30-minute spa treatment, guided reef snorkelling and guided diving.

The change comes with upgrades to the resort’s villas and facilities, which HPL says are due for completion in the coming weeks. Plans include eight Family Beach Villas with private splash pools, splash pools for four two-bedroom Beach Houses, a second three-bedroom villa, a new Beach Club and 24-hour dining at Kandooma Café. The resort will remain open during the works.

The resort is also organising its activities under five themes: ocean adventures, wellness, dining, local discovery and social gatherings.

“Our refreshed all-inclusive experience is designed to give every guest the freedom to create their own island adventure,” said general manager Andrew Drummond.

Kandooma Maldives will be the eighth Maldives property in the Hotel Properties Limited group and the 13th hotel managed by its hospitality arm, HPL Hotels & Resorts.
