Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto

High-end French food purveyor Fauchon is expanding its hospitality footprint with the opening of the Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto on 16 March.

The property marks the second hotel outpost for the Fauchon brand, following the opening of Fauchon L’Hotel Paris in September 2018 — also its debut into the hospitality business.

Located within Kyoto’s Shimogyo-ku district, the 70-room Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto will also mark a debut as a member of the Leading Hotels of the World network.

Like the original Paris location, the Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto showcases the flag’s signature Gourmet Bar minibar in each room and suite. Housed in a wardrobe-size pink cabinet, Fauchon’s Gourmet Bar features a selection of Fauchon products, all of which are complimentary.

The property will house several food, beverage and retail concepts, including a Le Grand Cafe Fauchon restaurant, Fauchon Salon de The afternoon tea venue and Fauchon Bar, as well as a Fauchon Patisserie and Boutique at street level.

The hotel has also collaborated with several local culinary partners, linking with a Japanese bakery to offer a traditional Yatsuhashi pastry at teatime, as well as partnering with Tango Beer of Japan to recreate a 1940s-style beer.

Rates at the Fauchon L’Hotel Kyoto start at around US$477 per night for a room and US$835 per night for a suite.

According to Fauchon Hospitality CEO Jacques-Olivier Chauvin, the company has additional Fauchon hotel projects currently under development in the US, China, Tokyo and the Middle East.

Sala Bang Pa-in

When Sala Bang Pa-in opens on 1 May in the historic city of Ayutthaya, the 24-key property will mark the group’s ninth in Thailand and fifth under the sala boutique line.

The boutique hotel is tucked away on a private island in the Chao Phraya River, where a fleet of custom-made wooden motorboat stand ready to take guests out on excursions, including transfers to the nearby Summer Palace, daily sightseeing tours and sunset cocktail cruises. A luxurious speedboat is also available for half- and full-day private charters and intimate group events.

Guests have the option of cycling to the nearby Summer Palace, jogging along the riverbank, indulging in-room spa and massage services, or dipping in the outdoor pool which stretches 30m along the riverfront. The riverside restaurant uses ingredients grown from the hotel’s garden, relaxing over wines, craft beers or cocktails.

The 10 pool villas come fitted with modern comforts the likes of sound systems with smartphone connectivity, LED TVs, Espresso machines, and open out to large riverside terraces with daybeds and private pools. The biggest highlight is the three-bedroom river view presidential pool villa, offering 484 sqm of indoor and alfresco living space.
