Charity project in Java

On Saturday November 28th we visited YKSUWI Al-Mu’awiyah Orphanage & Yayasan SLB Mendalan School for Disabled in Lamongan, East Java.

A total of 34,038,500 IDR was collected including a donation from Global Expat in the name of all our clients.

We drove with our car to Surabaya, an 11-hour trip including 45-min ferry from Gilimanuk to Banyuwangi. Spent the night in Surabaya and next morning went to Lotte Mart and filled up 8 trolleys including 50 bags of rice (= 1250 KG)! We rented a pick-up which was well (over-)loaded, the driver even stopped on the way to add air to the tires! Then we had to drive 1 more hour to Lamongan.

It was a magnificent day, both institutions received us with a very warm welcome and they were very happy with all the stuff we brought for them. We were very touched by the incredible smiles of those beautiful children. 36 children are living in the school for disabled and 50 girls live in the orphanage.

Here a couple of pictures of the institutions and of all stuff that was donated, we also donated IDR 4.6 million IDR in cash to each of the institutions.

A big thank you to all our clients, families & friends for your contributions, you all certainly have made a difference in the lives of these children in need.

The children of Panti asuhan YKSUWI Al-Mu’awiyah Orphanage & Yayasan SLB Mendalan send you their best wishes for the upcoming year 2016!
