Archipelago gains new ground for Indonesia expansion

JAKARTA – Regional hotel management company Archipelago International has expanded “at record pace” with eight new signings in Indonesia that will add more than 1,300 rooms.

The new signings cover hotels from Bandung to Bogor and includes rebranding projects in Jakarta and Gorontalo.

All newly-signed hotels will be operated under long-term management contracts and carry the company’s Aston, The Alana, Harper and favehotels brands.

The company has earmarked West and Central Indonesia as “key development regions to maintain our growth momentum”, said John Flood, president and CEO of Archipelago International.

It has in the past two months opened five hotels – Aston Inn Gresik, Aston Sidoarjo, favehotel Ketapang, favehotel Prabumulih and favehotel Karawang – in Indonesia alone.

“Given the exciting infrastructural developments, we anticipate strong business and leisure tourism potentials in these markets and look forward to keeping up the momentum,” he added.

Beyond its base in Southeast Asia, the company is also expanding its presence in the Middle East and Caribbean markets with its Grand Aston brand.

It recently announced a long-term partnership with Maison Privee, one of Dubai’s fastest-growing holiday homes and corporate rental management companies.
