AWC and Meliá expand Thailand partnership with more than 3,000 keys planned

AWC and Meliá Hotels International are extending their Thailand partnership through 2036, with plans for more than 3,000 luxury and lifestyle hotel keys across major destinations.

Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC) and Meliá Hotels International (MHI) are expanding their long-term strategic partnership in Thailand. The AWC Meliá partnership will run through 2036 and aims to grow the joint portfolio to more than 3,000 keys. The companies plan to develop luxury and lifestyle hotels across several major Thai destinations.

The expanded pipeline will involve multiple Meliá brands, including Meliá Hotels & Resorts, ME by Meliá and Paradisus by Meliá. INNSiDE by Meliá and Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts will also form part of the long-term development programme.

Paradisus brand set for Thailand debut

One of the largest developments in the pipeline is Paradisus Jomtien Resort. The beachfront property is scheduled to open in Pattaya in 2031 and will mark the arrival of the Paradisus by Meliá brand in Thailand. It will operate as a luxury all-inclusive resort.

AWC currently has around 1,900 keys across its operating and pipeline portfolio with Meliá. This makes the company Meliá Hotels International’s largest owner partner in Thailand. The two groups intend to use the expanded relationship to bring additional international brands into the country.

Two new hotels planned for Bangkok

The AWC Meliá partnership will also add two hotels in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit 24 and Sukhumvit 26 areas. Both properties are scheduled to welcome guests in the fourth quarter of 2026. They will initially operate under conversion labels before transitioning in the fourth quarter of 2027.

ME by Meliá at Sukhumvit 24 will mark the brand’s debut in Asia. The property will introduce a luxury lifestyle concept to Bangkok. Meliá Hotels & Resorts at Sukhumvit 26 will focus on Spanish hospitality and a family-oriented lifestyle experience.

Guests staying at either property will have access to selected facilities and experiences at the other hotel. The two developments will therefore create connected hospitality offerings in Phrom Phong, one of Bangkok’s established leisure and commercial districts.

Existing Thailand portfolio continues to grow

AWC and Meliá already operate several properties in Thailand. The portfolio includes Meliá Chiang Mai, Meliá Koh Samui, Meliá Pattaya Hotel and INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit. These hotels provide the foundation for the wider expansion strategy.

Several properties have also received industry recognition. INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit was included among Bangkok’s top hotels in the Condé Nast Traveler 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. It also received a Thailand Tourism Award in the Design Hotel category.

Meliá Chiang Mai received the Thailand Tourism Excellence Award in the City Hotel category. It was also named among Thailand’s Top Upcountry Hotels in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023.

Meliá Koh Samui received recognition from TTG Travel Asia as Best 5-Star Hotel in Koh Samui. It also received World Travel & Hotel Awards for Best Family Hotel and Best Luxury Hotel. Meliá Pattaya Hotel was listed among Smart Travel Asia’s Top 10 New Hotels.

Sustainability remains part of the expansion strategy

Sustainability forms another central element of the AWC Meliá partnership. Existing properties across the portfolio have secured certifications including LEED, WELL and ECOSTARS. Meliá Pattaya Hotel also became the first hotel in Southeast Asia to achieve WELL Certification at Platinum level.

The companies plan to integrate sustainability into the guest experience through wellness, local sourcing and support for Thai communities. This includes the use of locally sourced ingredients and collaboration with farmers, artisans and community producers.

Initiatives such as The Gallery will connect guests with products created by Thai communities. The companies aim to use these programmes to support local livelihoods while expanding the range of cultural and locally rooted experiences available to hotel guests.

The long-term development programme strengthens AWC and Meliá’s presence across Thailand’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality market. With more than 3,000 keys planned through 2036, the partnership will span urban, resort and all-inclusive segments across several destinations.
