1 Hotels, the luxury lifestyle brand founded by hospitality champion Barry Sternlicht, has officially opened the brand’s first property in Japan.
Spanning the 38th through 43rd floors of Tokyo’s Akasaka Trust Tower, 1 Hotel Tokyo is a showcase of how “design excellence and sustainability can elevate one another at the highest level of luxury,” said Raul Leal, CEO of Starwood Hotels, which manages 1 Hotels.
The 211-key property anchors Tokyo World Gate Akasaka, a mixed-use hub that combines offices, retail, and culture. Iconic neighbourhoods such as Ginza, Roppongi, and Shibuya are easily accessible, while nearby shrines, parks and embassies give a mix of international presence and local character.
This philosophy extends to the property, designed as a calming retreat, and blending Japanese minimalism with modern comfort. Select rooms also deliver views of the Imperial Palace gardens and Tokyo’s skyline.
