The Sukhothai Shanghai slated to open in April 2018

HKRI International Limited’s second Sukhothai Hotels and Resorts-brand property, The Sukhothai Shanghai, is now set to open its doors in April this year.

The new hotel, which will form part of the HKRI Taikoo Hui mixed-use development in the city’s Jingan district, was announced last year and had previously been given an opening date of late 2017.

The Sukhothai Shanghai is a member of independent collection, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and will offer a total of 201 accommodations comprising 170 guestrooms and 31 suites ranging from 44sqm to 172sqm.

The Sukhothai Shanghai - Executive Room

Each guestroom and suite will feature a number of high-tech features, notably 55-inch to 65-inch HDTVs, Sonos sound bars, on-demand access to entertainment via IPTV and satellite TV, and in-room control technology. These will be complemented by privacy-enhancing, sound-absorbing walls made from diatom-silica clay, which also aid with air purification and humidity regulation. Rooms will also feature in-room refreshments and a wine bar along with organic bathroom amenities from Australia.

Outside the rooms, The Sukhothai Shanghai will include five dining venues including Italian restaurant La Scala, all-day-dining restaurant Urban Café, gin-bar Urban Lounge, The Zuk Bar offering Nordic cuisine and cocktails, and Beans & Grapes, which will offer healthy foods during the day and Asian-inspired tapas with wine at night.

Leisure facilities also include a 198sqm fitness centre along with a separate studio for yoga, pilates and group exercise, and a 25-metre heated indoor pool with a sauna and steam room. Guests can also receive Southeast Asian-inspired wellness treatments at The Retreat Spa.

The Sukhothai Shanghai will be one of two hotels at the HKRI Taikoo Hui development, standing alongside Swire Hotels’ fourth property in its “The House Collective”, The Middle House. Swire Hotels announced the hotel around about the same time as The Sukhothai Shanghai was unveiled, and has similarly been given an April 2018 opening date.
