Royal Caribbean’s new ship will ‘redefine the Asian cruise market’

Royal Caribbean International has taken delivery of the 26th ship in its fleet, Spectrum of the Seas, from Meyer Werft Yard in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The first in the Quantum Ultra class of ships, Spectrum of the Seas will arrive in Singapore on May 17 and homeport from Shanghai starting June 2019.

“Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, said, “We have once again combined revolutionary ship design with the latest technologies to deliver a ship that will redefine the Asian cruise market.”

At 168,666 gross registered tonnes and a total capacity of 5,622 guests, Spectrum of the Seas will be the largest and most revolutionary ship in Asia.

The ship will debut the global cruise line’s first private enclave for suite guests, new stateroom categories, and new dining concepts, along with features, experiences and technology – many of which have never before seen at sea.

Guests booked in the luxury suites will have special keycard access, a private elevator and a dedicated restaurant and lounge.

Prior to her three sailings from Singapore, the ship will set sail from Barcelona, calling at ports including Dubai, Muscat, Mumbai, Cochin and Penang.
